Goodnight, Mr. McQueen

As I’m sure a lot of you know, Alexander McQueen passed away on Thursday. It’s hard to think of anything to say that would come close to capturing even a part of his greatness. But maybe that’s the thing: people as talented as Alexander McQueen can’t be captured. Not by words, and unfortunately for us, not even by life.

I’ll let his designs speak for themselves:

  1. hi grace-

first of all, this is a really simple and elegant testament to mcqueen’s work, i shared it with friends on google reader because i felt like it showed his work without being too invasive for people who aren’t regular fashion heads (like you and i).

second, are you watching the runway shows? anything blowing you away?

it just occurred to me you live in a part of the world where shorts must be a year round regular clothing item. i can’t imagine. for me that would be a comfort level akin to wearing one of those millimeter thick speed skating body suits (i.e the winter olympics). maybe i can never visit australia.

    best-
